NEWS RELEASES FROM FIRE DEVIL:

Fire Devil launches with jewellery as unique as a fingerprint
Brand taps into the newest fashion trend; dichroic glass

Fire Devil, a fledgling brand offering a collection of hand-crafted jewellery in dichroic glass and silver, launches this week.  Each piece is as unique as a fingerprint – because it’s made from this unusual glass - and the finished items boast an array of colours and patterns, with no two exactly the same.

Dichroic glass is the jewellery industry’s best-kept secret: its beautiful shimmer is hard wearing and unique.  It looks exclusive and yet it’s also affordable, making it the smart choice for professional women and fashionistas alike.

The Fire Devil collection allows style trend-setters to express their personality and stand out from the crowd with confidence, as the pieces are timeless and won’t be cloned.  And it’s bang on trend for Spring/Summer 2010, as jewellery – particularly necklaces – that make a big style statement are hot property: Vera Wang, Dries Van Noten, Temperley London, Lanvin and Roland Mouret all agree.

The brand is launched by career communications pro, Melissa Urry.  After having studied art as part of her degree, the ideal outlet for her creative talents came in the shape of the art of fusing glass and, with the purchase of a kiln; Fire Devil emerged from the flames.

Melissa operates her office and workshop from a converted barn on the outskirts of Oxford.  The Fire Devil collection was originally intended for her own jewellery box but quickly expanded to reach friends and family and, as of this week, women across the UK via a purpose-built, chic website with online shop.

“The appeal of Fire Devil lies in a woman’s need to add a sense of personality to her wardrobe without it costing the earth, yet be reassured she’s buying quality,” says Melissa.  “That’s why I promised myself (and my friends!) I’d make each piece with only top materials.

“I love using dichroic glass – it’s got a stunning sparkle and was intended for aerospace because of its hard-wearing, reflective coating.  I team it with semi-precious gemstone beads, like onyx, rose quartz, haematite and amethyst.  And my customers can be confident that if it looks silver, it IS silver.  All beads, wire and findings are .925 Sterling or .999 Fine silver; that’s as pure as it gets.”

Everything in the Fire Devil collection is designed as a one-off piece, so customers won’t bump into someone wearing a carbon copy.  And, if that isn’t individual enough, Fire Devil also offers a bespoke service, which allows customers to talk through ideas for design, shade or pattern of glass, stringing materials and findings to help accessorise even the most unique outfit and please the most discerning customer.

The Fire Devil collection is available as of this week exclusively online from www.firedevil.co.uk and currently covers necklaces and pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings for women, ranging in price from £6.00 to £35.00.  It is set to expand over the coming months to offer chainmaille along with men’s jewellery, including cufflinks, as well as bridal jewellery and wedding gifts.

About Fire Devil
Fire Devil necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings are all individually made and as unique as a fingerprint.  They are made from dichroic and art glasses layered and fused in a kiln to hundreds of degrees which results in the cabochons which are then turned into the finished piece.  Dichroic glass is coated with a fine layer of microscopic particles of metals, like a gemstone, but which in different proportions create different colours and patterns.  The glass has a separate transmitted and a reflected colour so it can be seen as two distinct shades when tilted.  It was originally made for applications in the aerospace industry but glass artists soon adopted it for fashion, artistic and architectural uses.  The coating is hard wearing because of the fusing process and this also toughens the glass.  Fire Devil also uses dichroic glass and semi-precious gemstone beads and only ever uses Sterling silver in its beads and findings.  The stringing materials used are always animal friendly and Fire Devil NEVER uses real suede.
